Reverse Tie Dye For Summer

Looking for a fun new summer style? We reverse tie dyed summer color tees from Michael’s, and I love how they turned out!
I go 2 sizes up For my shirt and 1 size up for Harper’s. I’m going for a looser fit so I could crop the tees and create that boxy look. This is my favorite way to wear tees in the summer, the fabric just floats on you and doesn’t cling to sweaty skin, it’s the best!
The other things you’ll need are trash bags, rubber bands, and I used a brand new Toilet bowl cleaner Bleach cling gel.

To start I soaked the tees in hot warm water to get all the fibers wet and the loosely gathered the shirt into a crumpled design. If you would like a certain tie dye pattern this is where you would do that. I tried to create a random design and not the typical tie dye swirl.
I used a brand new cling bleach gel toilet cleaner. In my opinion this works the best because it is more controlled. I soaked the shirt very well and then went over it again. I left the shirts out in the sun for 20 minutes
Rinse out good and then throw it in for a good wash.
I cut off about 4 inches from the bottom of my shirt and 3 inches from Harper’s to give the cropped look. Then used the excess fabric to make headbands.

Let me know what colors you would create!!

My Target Swim Haul!
*Audio is Mr Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra I do not own the rights to it. All this talk about #hotmomsummer got me thinking.. I just got some really cute suits at Target, that I need to show you!! They have really impressed me this year with the quality and fit of the suits. Target now has a variety of shapes and sizes for all body types! You really do have to try them on because they are all cut so different and small in one suit is not equivalent to a 34B and so on for every brand.

Doesn’t Get Her Hair Wet Mom
A little cheeky for me to wear around the kids, but you better believe when James and I have date night or a getaway I’m packing this one! It fits great and looks amazing on!

Sporty Mom
I honestly never thought I would own a rash guard style suit, but after wearing it a few times I love it! Perfect for kayaking or a full day out in the sun!!

Fun Mom
This red suit is very bright, I love the color! The top fits a little weird though with the ties. It’s probably not the suit, I don’t really have much to work with. I would still buy it again though!

Multitasking mom
This suit is juniors, like the red suit but fits better! I love the low cut bottoms. To me either make them high waisted or low cut.

Snack Mom
This suit is my favorite, the top has a ton of coverage and support and the bottoms aren’t too cheeky!
Bottom line if you’re a swimsuit snob like me you might want to check out Target they have really stepped their game up in the swim department!!

Memorial Day Weekend
It’s the first weekend of Summer break and also Memorial Day Weekend. To celebrate we wanted to go kayaking!! A couple weeks ago we made a Summer Bucket List and Kayaking was number one on the list.

Weeki Wachee is a favorite and the last time we kayaked we went there, but being the holiday weekend it was all reserved. We decided to try out Werner Boyce Salt Spring State Park And use Salty Dog Kayak Rentals they are offered right in the park, and are very reasonable. James made our reservation at 8:30 and we were in the water by 10 am.

We ended up getting a tandem kayak and a canoe, but 2 tandems and a single would have been ideal. The canoe was a little hard for Liam to manage with James.
The water was calm and we saw lots of wild life! No dolphin this time, but we did see tons of birds, crabs, and fish jumping out of the water.

Have you been to Werner Boyce Salt Spring?

ICONPark Orlando

We had a chance to go back to ICON Park to check out the Play Pass! It was so much fun! 🎡
✨ICON Park is a 20 acre Entertainment Destination that is located in the heart of Orlando’s Entertainment District! So lots of shops, restaurants, and fun spots!

Miles in The Museum of Illusions
The Play Pass is the best deal, it includes 8 attractions:
Madame Tussaud’s
SEA Life Orlando Aquarium
The Wheel
Museum of Illusions
The Pearl Express
Orlando Star Flyer
In The Game $5 play card
7D Motion Theater!
✨Which attraction would you visit first?

After we rode the train they gave us tokens for treats at shake shack #visitICONPark #loveorlando

The Wheel is a favorite every time we go! With the play past you get discounts on shopping and dining! We had lunch at Uncle Julio’s Mexican Restaurant and then a treat at Shake shack

Harper asked me why they had an ear on the door at Shake Shack 🤣
From the museum of illusions they have tons of fun picture spots -
Fort De Soto Park North Beach
We made it to Fort De Soto yesterday, and it did not disappoint! We headed to the north beach which has plenty of parking, and plenty of space to spread out! The sand is powder white and perfect for shelling.

We found so many pretty shells and a ton of broken sand dollars. Can you believe I’ve never found a whole sand dollar? I’m making it my mission this summer!! The kids even ended up spotting a dolphin ( see below) and we saw a ton of sea turtle nests.
The fun thing about Fort De Soto is that it’s part of the Tierra verde boating community, the kids really enjoyed watching all the boat traffic.

This tidal pool in the middle makes it an adventure to get to the beach, and this is where we spotted the dolphin.

✈️

With plenty of beach to spread out, I’m saying Fort De Soto is the perfect family spot. We can’t wait to go back on our next trip and check out the battery and museum. The kids spotted the war cannons and I know they would enjoy seeing them up close. We may even be able to convince James to go camping.

Wild Flowers

This will be the 3rd year we made it to the wild flower fields at Myakka River State Park, so I’m calling that a new tradition.

The cost of admission to the park is $6 and you can stay all day. That was more than enough time for us to grab our pictures and videos, in total we might have stayed 45 minutes, but that’s only because it was a school day and we had zooms to get to. In the past we’ve packed a picnic and spent the day at the park, hiking and seeing the amazing views.

Florida actually has many wild flower blooms from Spring to early Winter all over the state, so I’ll be making it my mission to visit some of them!!
Click here Myakka River State Park to learn more!

We parked right by the bathrooms We parked all the way in the park near the boathouse. Before you get there you will pass tons of flower fields, these tend to be busy areas because everyone see the flowers and immediately pulls over. What I like to do is go all the way to the back, we had the entire end of the field to ourselves, not to mention the bathrooms were right there. Which helped a ton to wash up after, we were covered in pollen.
As always use caution, this is Florida and the park does have gators and snakes. We were very clear with the kids to stay close and watch their feet.
Here are some past years:

Kitchen love
Our kitchen has come a long way from the orange builder grade cabinets and tile floor. I recently moved my rug from The rugs cafe to the kitchen and it got me thinking that I should share with you guys a few recent things we’ve done to spruce it up!

Click to see my post about the rug! Since Covid, we haven’t really gotten out shopping in store, I definitely love shopping online though. We hadn’t been in an IKEA in I don’t know how long, but I wanted to buy everything! LOL I settled on the barstools, which were a steal at $19 each! They are kid friendly, very sturdy, and wipeable. And at that price I won’t mind replacing them in a few years when the kids aren’t so messy.

Click to visit IKEA Barstool
STIG Barstool click to visit Another thing I’ve been wanting to upgrade but at the same time didn’t care either way was the knobs and drawer pulls. The builder grade ones were brushed nickel and I think the black really pops on the white cabinets.

Linked to the knobs
Click to visit The Hardware pulls Then I found this beautiful pendant light, it’s so dark in the corner where our kitchen table is so this is perfect. I love the look for less only $39.99!

Click to see the Knixhult Pendant light
Click here I found it on Amazon too!! That’s all for now, but stay tuned! Next we will be stripping and refinishing the kitchen table 🙂
